The reliability of Asus’ products is evident from customer reviews, and today we have another device from them.
This Rog Strix GL10CS variant has specs that are perfect for entry-level gaming, and the good thing is that you can upgrade later if you see fit.
There are other models with better processors, better GPUs, and more RAM, but the model you see here today also has a powerful 8th generation i7 processor. generation, 8GB of RAM, and a lightweight GTX 1050 GPU.
It’s not the GPU you’d normally choose, but as you’ll see, it works fine for 1080p gaming.
What it can’t provide in terms of performance, it tries to provide in terms of connections, so you get usable ports.
This is definitely a great device for players who are on a budget and are beginners.

Pronunciation
The Asus ROG Strix GL10CS is one of those gaming rigs that will serve you for a long time, provided you make the right upgrades. With so much competition, some aspects of it, like the GPU, feel like they are behind the curve.
Design and construction
The ROG Strix GL10CS case is a good case for a number of reasons. First of all, it’s attractive thanks to the RGB lighting on the front.
Secondly, it is compact and can be easily stored, and thirdly, it offers plenty of room for future upgrades.
The case is made of metal, which looks pretty solid, and the front features a lightning-shaped RGB light bar. The ROG logo is also on it.
There is no glass panel, but a vented side cover that facilitates cooling and allows RGB LEDs to diffuse into the housing.
Special software from Asus allows you to control the RGB lighting of an entire system and peripherals.
There are ports on the back and front, so you won’t have any problems connecting useful devices.
Power
The device is powered by an Intel Core i7-8700 with 6 cores and 12 threads, a base frequency of 3.2 GHz and 12 MB of cache.
But this is not an overclockable processor, so those expecting overclocking will be disappointed.
Still, it’s a decent processor that can be used for gaming, editing and other daily use.
The GPU, one of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050s, is as good as you’d expect from a low-end GPU.
It only has 2GB of VRAM, which makes it easy to run some games in 1080p.
However, it doesn’t support VR or streaming, and you’ll have to say goodbye to the idea of playing in 1440p.
The GTX 1050’s gaming performance is one of the more mixed results, but you’ll need to keep the settings low when playing at 1080p resolution to be comfortable.
For example, racing games like Forza Horizon 4 and Project Cars can be played at frame rates well above 60 fps with the specified graphics settings.
Other games, such as Witcher 3, Battlefield V, and Red Dead Redemption II, on the other hand, only reached about 60 frames per second, but barely got there.
Others, like PUBG, only reach 60 frames per second on low settings. So you’ll have to make do with low settings and 1080p to play this game.
You can try editing video, but only at a pace just above the basic level.
The 2GB GPU is not really suitable for 3D modeling or editing.
So video editing can be done at 1080p without any problems, but for professional use or 4K editing you might want to upgrade to the GTX 1050 Ti, which is about 25% more powerful than this one.
The processor used, the Core i7 8700, is a very powerful processor that you can only fully utilize after the GPU upgrade.
The GTX 1050 is now largely obsolete and is considered a bottleneck in most scenarios. The use of desktop computers is slowly but surely coming to an end.
The Windows 10 operating system is already installed for use with this PC.
Memory and RAM
Storage capacity is 1 TB on a 7200 RPM hard drive.
Even then, it’s not as powerful as an SSD, and you need to add one to process and download files faster.
However, it is possible to purchase an SSD option if you need maximum speed from the start.
The RAM memory is 8 GB (2666 MHz) and is expandable up to 32 GB.
While you won’t accomplish much at first, some improvements will make a big difference over time.
Ports and connections
The following ports are available on this PC:
On the front:
- 2 USB 3.1 ports
- Combined headphone/microphone jack
In the background:
- 2 USB 3.1 ports
- 2 USB 2.0 ports
- HDMI connection
- Microphone input
- Audio input
- Audio output
That’s all the information you have. Again, the Thunderbolt 3 port is missing, as are the USB Type-C ports.
Other connectivity options include 802.11 ac WIFI and Bluetooth 5.0.
Additional functions
The Rog Strix GL10CS has an optional glass panel that can be chosen in place of a vented side cover.
The keyboard and mouse come in one package, although they are used together.
The RGB lighting on the rig itself and the ROG peripherals (if you buy them) can be controlled via the ROG Armoury Crate software, which also offers a few other features.
Asus has developed a new thermal system where the case is divided into two separate chambers, with the upper part housing the CPU and GPU and the lower part housing the hard drive and PSU.
This provides better airflow and therefore better cooling.
There is also DTS:X support for headphones, so users can enjoy 7.1 surround sound on headphones.
A standard 2-year warranty is also available from Asus.

What do users think of the Asus ROG Strix GL10CS?
Although the Rog Strix GL10CS hasn’t been on the market that long, it’s still in demand.
This is because users have appreciated its features and the fact that it is available at an affordable price.
The processor may not be the most advanced, but it is powerful enough for games and other applications.
However, many have opted for better graphics as the GTX 1050 feels inadequate at times.
A simple RAM and storage upgrade also made it very practical. Please read the manual of the ROG GL10CS.
Another aspect was the RGB lighting that was introduced earlier, and since players love that, it was a great addition to the platform.
For the same reason, the glass top option was considered more attractive.
However, some were not happy with the lack of USB Type-C or Thunderbolt ports.
Apart from that and the GPU (in this variant), the overall impression is good.
Nowadays there are better options of course, but as an entry level PC it was good.
Even if you could build a PC with the same specs, the price difference wouldn’t be too big, but some parts could be replaced with better ones.
So users found a PC they could use for entertainment and work at the same time, and with a few upgrades it worked even better.
